Friday 17 April 2026 U15 North Wales Bowl Final vs Ysgol Creuddyn On Thursday 16th April our U15 Boys Rugby Team put in a fantastic performance at Parc Eirias Colwyn Bay in their North Wales Bowl Final vs Ysgol Creuddyn.Playing with the wind in the 1st half, Newtown made a bright start, however it was their opponents who opened the scoring after their winger broke through and out-paced the cover defence to score under the posts. Newtown responded with a score from centre Tyler over on the left after strong carries from the Newtown pack, before an excellent 50:22 kick from Elli led to another series of carries, resulting in powerful prop Kai scoring to make it 10 v 7 just before half time with all to play for in the 2nd half.Newtown started the 2nd with a bang, with early tries from Cai, Shane and Finley putting Newtown in a strong position for the remaining 20 mins. Friday 17 April 2026 U15 Girls Rugby 14/4/26 Newtown brought great energy to the Cobra East U15s tournament on Tuesday 14th April, showing real enthusiasm and team spirit in every match. Although we didn't get a win, the players kept pushing forward, scoring 17 points over the tournament and celebrating every small victory along the way. Even against tough opposition, the team stayed positive, supported one another, and never stopped working hard. Their determination and attitude stood out throughout the competition.This tournament has given Newtown valuable experience and plenty to build on as they were all the youngest in the age group and have another chance next year. With their growing confidence and commitment, the team is set to make exciting progress in future fixtures.

Wednesday 25 March 2026 Welsh Sportshall Athletics Finals 2026 On Sunday 22nd March year 10 pupil Shane represented Powys in the Welsh Sportshall Athletics Finals in Cwmbran.

Wednesday 25 March 2026 North East Wales U15 Rugby Bowl Final vs Ysgol Morgan Llwyd On Tuesday 24th March our U15 Boys Rugby Team travelled to Wrexham RFC to take on Ysgol Morgan Llwyd in the U15 North East Wales Bowl Final.

Wednesday 19 November 2025 KS3 Girls Football Tournament Latham Park played host to an exciting day of football as KS3 girls from across North Powys competed in the annual Small-Sided Football Tournament. With teams from Years 7, 8, and 9 taking part, the competition was fierce, and the performances were nothing short of inspiring.

Thursday 6 November 2025 Welsh Cup Under 13 Girls On Wednesday 5th November, our Under 13 girls made the trip to Welshpool in the 2nd round of the Welsh Cup. The game was incredibly competitive, seeing the game end in a 4-4 draw, with Welshpool advancing on penalties.

Thursday 23 October 2025 U14 Boys Welsh Cup vs Bro Hyddgen On Wednesday 22nd October our u14 boys football team welcomed Bro Hyddgen for their 2nd round Welsh Cup match. Goals from Alvaro x3, Alfie x3, Henry x2, Tom PL and Tommy P earned a 10-3 win to book their place in the Powys final vs Welshpool, to be played after half term.

Thursday 23 October 2025 U18 Netball Tournament On Tuesday 21st October our Year 10 & 11 Netball team went to Ysgol Bro Caereinion and competed in the U18 North Powys Netball Tournament. Playing up an age group, they were prepared and ready for some good quality netball and some physically tough games. They fought very hard in all 4 matches scoring in every game played, although final scores were against us.

Wednesday 22 October 2025 Welsh Cup U16 vs Maesydderwen On Monday 20th October our u16 boys team welcomed Maesydderwen, the most southernly-based Powys school, who made the long trip up from Ystradgynlais, for the second of their Welsh Cup matches.

Friday 17 October 2025 Year 7 Welsh Cup Football & Show Racism the Red Card Our Year 7 boys football team played their first game on Thursday 16th October, where they made the trip over to Llanfair to play Bro Caereinion. They came away with an impressive 5-1 win after a confident performance from the 18 player squad, from which every player played their part in an excellent team effort.Goals from Rocco x3, Noah V and George W after excellent team passing and build up play helped seal the win, with all pupils contributing positively and showing fantastic effort, commitment and conduct! Wednesday 15 October 2025 U16 Welsh Cup Football vs Penweddig Our u16 boys football team travelled to Aberystwyth on the 14th of October for their 1st round match vs Penweddig, where they came away with a hard-working & solid 1-1 draw.
