North Wales Tennis Qualifiers 2026 - Newtown Campus vs Llanidloes

On Tuesday 2nd June we hosted Llanidloes in the North Wales Tennis 1st round qualifiers for our U13/U15 Girls & Boys Tennis teams.

In a series of keenly contested singles and doubles matches, all pupils gave it their all and made noticeable improvements in performance as their confidence grew throughout the day, especially for those playing competitive tennis matches for the first time!

In the U13 age group, our girls team put in a sterling effort in a series of tight matches, with all playing for their first time, before losing out by 5 matches to 1. The boys team put in a polished performance in a fantastic 6-0 win. In the U15s, our girls team battled away in some incredibly competitive and evenly contested match-ups, before being edged out by 3 matches to 4 to Llanidloes, with our U15 boys putting in confident displays resulting in a 5v1 result. Both our U13 and U15 boys teams now go on to compete in the North Powys Finals against Welshpool!

A huge well done to all of our pupils who represented the school so fantastically well yesterday, all matches were played in the best of spirits and it was a pleasure to see the excellent sportsmanship on show all day from both sets of pupils. Da iawn pawb!
