Year 9 media workshop
A group of our Year 9 students have been upskilling their media know-how whilst working on a special project to promote Newtown High School. As part of this, we were very fortunate to receive a visit from local award-winning journalist David Williams, co-founder and director of MyTown Media Ltd (the hyper-local news service behind MyNewtown and MyWelshpool). He spent time talking to the students about his inspiring career in the media, including his varied experiences in international sports journalism and his time as media advisor to HRH Prince Feisal Al Hussein of Jordan.
David then shared his expertise and gave advice to the students as they worked on producing their own special edition of the school newsletter, in which they have highlighted their favourite aspects of life at Newtown High School. It was a long and varied list of features, and we can't wait to share the finished product with you later this term!
Well done to the Year 9 students on their fantastic efforts during this workshop, and a huge thank you to David for giving his time to come and work with us.
