KS3 Girls Football Tournament

Latham Park played host to an exciting day of football as KS3 girls from across North Powys competed in the annual Small-Sided Football Tournament. With teams from Years 7, 8, and 9 taking part, the competition was fierce, and the performances were nothing short of inspiring.

For the Year 7 team, this was their first time playing together in the tournament, and they showed tremendous determination. They finished 5th overall, securing:
2 wins against John Beddoes and Bro Hyddgen
2 draws against Llanidloes and Welshpool
2 losses against eventual winners Ysgol Bro Caereinion and runners-up Llanfyllin
Goals came courtesy of Emily Wheeldon and Evie Blower, while Roxy provided excellent leadership as team manager.

The Year 8 team battled through a very close tournament, finishing 4th overall. Despite ending on the same points as the 2nd and 3rd placed teams, goal difference proved decisive. Their record included:
2 wins against Llanidloes and Llanfyllin
2 draws against Bro Hyddgen and Welshpool
2 losses against John Beddoes and eventual winners Bro Caereinion
Madison found the net during the day, and thanks go to Jorja for her excellent work as team manager.
The Year 9 team delivered a superb performance, finishing as runners-up. They ended joint top with Llanidloes on points, but goal difference gave their rivals the edge. Remarkably, Year 9 went undefeated all day and did not concede a single goal, thanks to the outstanding efforts of goalkeepers Mia and Olivia. Their record included:
3 wins against John Beddoes, Bro Caereinion, and Bro Hyddgen
3 draws against Welshpool, Llanfyllin, and Llanidloes

Goals flowed throughout the tournament, with Lola (4), Ffion (2), Grace (1), and Hatice (1) all on the scoresheet.
All three teams should be proud of their performances, showing skill, teamwork, and resilience against strong opposition. The tournament highlighted the depth of talent in North Powys girls’ football and set the stage for even greater success in the future.
