Thursday 10 April 2025 Sport Relief Danceathon with Gemma On Tuesday 8th April as part of Sport Relief Week we had Gemma from Footloose come in to put our pupils through their paces on the dancefloor, delivering a fantastic dance session which our pupils absolutely loved! A big thank you Gemma for coming in and giving our pupils an amazing experience and opportunity, they had a great time!

Thursday 3 April 2025 Powys Schools U12 & U13 Boys Rugby Our U12 & U13 Boys rugby teams travelled to Llanidloes on Thursday 3rd April in glorious sunshine to take part in the Powys Schools Rugby Festivals. Both teams put in a fantastic effort, with lots of our pupils playing competitive rugby for the first time, growing in confidence and improving the more they played throughout the day.

Thursday 3 April 2025 Under-15 Girls Powys Rugby Festival Today, our Under-15 Girls rugby team took part in a Powys Schools rugby festival at Cobra RFC. The girls gave a great account of themselves in the sunshine and significantly improved as the day went on, both in terms of performance and results.

Thursday 27 March 2025 Powys Rugby 7s u14 & u15 Boys Yesterday saw our u14 & u15 Boys rugby teams take part in the annual Powys Schools 7 a-side rugby tournament in Llanidloes. Both teams gave it their all in the spring sunshine, improving as they played more after a slow start adapting to the 7 a-side game.

Tuesday 18 March 2025 Insport Series Event - 14th March On Friday 14th March, five of our year 7 pupils had a great day at the Insport Series inclusive sports event, organised by Sport Powys and held at Maldwyn Leisure Centre. They took part in a range of activities including table tennis, cricket, tennis, archery, boccia and many more. Thank you to Sport Powys and all of the different sports coaches and college pupils who helped deliver such a fantastic day and opportunity, our pupils had a great experience and really enjoyed it!

Friday 14 March 2025 North Wales Badminton Finals On Wednesday 12th March both our girls and boys u13 & u15 teams, 16 pupils in all, had a very early start to make their way up to Deeside to compete in the North Wales Schools Badminton Finals.

Thursday 13 March 2025 North-Powys u13 Rugby On Tuesday our u13 boys rugby team travelled to Meifod to play in a mini tournament against the other North Powys schools. In dry & sunny conditions the boys played lots of great rugby and put in lots of effort in a series of closely contested and entertaining games. A big thank you to Hub Officer Gareth Kelly for taking the boys who will have developed and learnt a great deal from this top morning of rugby! Da iawn pawb, gwaith da!

Thursday 13 March 2025 Welsh Cup Quarter Final u13 boys vs Whitchurch High School Yesterday our u13 boys football team had an early start and a long trip down to the capital for their quarter final against the reigning Welsh Schools Champions in this age group.

Monday 10 March 2025 Welsh Sportshall Athletics Final Success Seven NHS pupils represented Powys at Sunday's Welsh Sportshall Athletics Final, making the long trip down to Llantrisant to compete against the best of the other Welsh regions.

Friday 21 February 2025 Welsh Cup Football u13 Success Our u13 boys football team booked their place into the Quarter Finals of the Welsh Cup today, with a gutsy 3-2 win against Greenhill School from Tenby in very challenging conditions.

Wednesday 12 February 2025 Welsh Inter-Counties Netball A massive well done to Phoebe, Halle & Blythe who all represented Powys last weekend in Bangor for the Welsh Netball Inter-Counties Finals. Well done girls, a fantastic achievement!

Thursday 6 February 2025 North Powys Schools Badminton A massive well done to our pupils from Years 8 and 10 who represented the school fantastically well at the North Powys Schools Badminton Qualifiers (5th January 2025) for the North Wales Finals.

Thursday 16 January 2025 Powys Schools Cross Country - Wednesday 15th January Fantastic effort from all of our amazing pupils at yesterday's Powys Schools Cross Country Championships at a sunny Dolerw Park. Every pupil gave it 100% effort in all the age groups from years 7-11, 53 pupils giving it their all with participation rates one of the highest from all the Powys Schools, resulting in lots of stand-out individual performances and selections for the County Team for the Welsh Champs in Brecon. Dai iawn pawb, great effort and a very proud school!

Monday 13 January 2025 North Powys School Swimmining Gala - year 7 A big well done to Alfie, Will, Sioned, Mollie, Ffion, Claire, Lenka and Lara who all competed fantastically well in today's (13th January) North Powys Schools Swimming Gala at Maldwyn Leisure Centre, coming back to school with lots of big smiles and a hatful of medals! Also a big well done and thank you to our yr9 leaders Nikola, Pheobe, Elli, Dylan and Aiden who all did a great job officiating. Well done everyone!

Monday 16 December 2024 Friday 13th December Fixtures @ Llanfyllin Our u14 boys football team bowed out of the Welsh Cup in the Powys Final, going down to a 8v3 loss to a strong Llanfyllin team. The boys will be disappointed that they weren’t able to match the levels of the week before, despite standout performances from defenders Ashton and Tyler, midfielder Jaden and captain Konrad, who helped himself to an impressive hat trick of goals.

Friday 29 November 2024 U13 Boys Powys Champions Our U13 Boys Football Team were yesterday crowned Powys Champions after beating their Caereinion counterparts in a tense Powys Final of the Welsh Cup!

Friday 29 November 2024 North Powys Girls Basketball On Wednesday our U13 & U15 Girls Basketball Teams represented the school incredibly well at the North Powys Girls Basketball Festival at Maldwyn Leisure Centre, playing against teams from both Llanidloes and Welshpool High Schools.

Friday 22 November 2024 Welsh Cup Football U15 Girls 3-4 Ysgol Bro Caereinion Newtown started last Friday’s match strongly, playing the better football from the off, creating several chances, before Caereinion’s captain scored an impressive double to give the home side a quick fire 2-0 lead.

Sunday 17 November 2024 North Powys KS3 Football Tournament On Thursday, all three of our teams finished 5th. However, this doesn’t paint the full picture, as they all played incredibly well and could’ve finished much higher in the standings on another day.

Thursday 14 November 2024 North Powys U16 Netball Newtown high school U16 girls took part in the North Powys tournament on Tuesday in Machynlleth. The girls won their first match against Llanidloes giving them the confidence to go on and win against strong Machynlleth and Llanfyllin sides, before losing to experienced Welshpool and Caereinion in their remaining games. The girls grew with every game learning from their mistakes and from watching other teams play. Captain Maria Ewers stepped up to play Goal Defence and made some amazing interceptions, Blythe Jones helped to work the ball up the court whilst also dropping back to defend as center. Both Cara Farrington and Lacey Clegg had their eye in, scoring some amazing goals.All the girls played with great effort for the whole 5 games and managed to come 3rd overall due to their excellent team morale and team play. The girls were great ambassadors for the school playing with respect for the other players and the umpires. Well done girls!Also a big thank you to Coach and Gold Ambassado
