Year 11 students - have you considered staying at Newtown High School for Sixth Form as part of Chweched Powys provision?

You can also speak with Mrs Francis (Head of Sixth Form) and Mrs B Jones (Assistant Head) for further information about applying for your place in September 2023.

This week we have launched Step 2 of the Year 9 Options process, where students can now make their final choices via the MyPathway system. Students have until 9am on Monday April 17th to make their choices on the system. We ask that, within each of the three blocks, students select their first choice subject and also a reserve choice. Their subject teachers will respond to their choices via the MyPathway system over the coming weeks. After Easter we will then work with students to discuss and confirm their final choices.

Exciting news for Year 9 - the Options Process has begun! Here is a short video from Mrs B Jones explaining the Year 9 Option, or Pathways Process. The first stage is now open! This is the 'Free Choice' stage where students are able to identify the subjects they may be interested in currently at the beginning of the process. This is not the final choice, but just to help us get an idea of which subjects students may want to study next year. This will also then help us have further conversations with your child to support them with selecting the most appropriate options for them.

If you have any questions or if we can help in any way, please do contact us via the school number or the email addresses given at the end of the video.

Today sees the launch of the Unifrog Careers platform with our Year 9 learners!

Unifrog is an exciting online platform which provides support for learners with deciding their future Careers pathways, especially important for Year 9 as they will shortly be making their Options choices for Year 10 (further details about Options to follow this week). We will be using the platform within school but the resources can also be used by students at home with you as parents and carers.

Students have received their log in details via their school email accounts.

Just before the close of the school day today at Newtown Campus of Newtown High School, there was an incident which resulted in students being temporarily retained in their classes. The Head Teacher has written a letter to parents with more information, which is available below.
