Friday the 13th of December is Christmas Jumper Day at Newtown High School. A Christmas Jumper can be worn in place of the blazer (all other uniform items should be worn). Charitable donations will go to the Save the Children Christmas Jumper Day fund, suggested donation is £1.

On Friday the 20th December we will have a non-uniform day in aid of Wales Air Ambulance.

We wish all students and their families a very happy Christmas and a healthy and happy New Year. We hope that 2020 brings success and fulfillment to all.

Students will return on Tuesday the 7th of January 2020.

Come and enjoy the Christmas concert with us in the Ivor Hughes Centre on Thursday 19th December. 6pm start and entry is a bargain price of Adults £2; Children £1.

On Wednesday 27th November 2019 John Beddoes Campus hosted a group of teenagers from Abu Dis, Palestine, as part of an awareness visit to the UK.

The girls and their guardians joined in a languages class and mixed with our students to discuss their unique experiences and similarities, learning of each other’s aspirations and hopes for the future.

Following on from the lesson the girls took on John Beddoes Campus students in a football match which was a very competitive match, played in the spirt of friendship. The result was a resounding win for John Beddoes Campus!

Following on from the big game, our visitors and students enjoyed lunch together in the conference room where the talk became typical teenage chat!

Thank you to all those who provided such a friendly and warm welcome and to those who took part in the events during their stay.

Dear Parent/Guardian

As the festive season draws near, John Beddoes Campus would like to show support for local people in need during this time. As such, this year we are choosing to support Knighton Food Bank who help those in crisis in Knighton and East Radnor.

Donations of the following festive items would be greatly appreciated:

Christmas cake and pudding – both family and single size
Christmas biscuits
Sweets and chocolates - tins and boxes
Selection boxes and Christmas stockings for children
Small gifts - unwrapped please
Christmas wrapping paper
Christmas cards

The following staples would also be greatly appreciated:

Toilet rolls
Washing up liquid
Laundry powder/liquid
Shampoo & shower gel
Deodorant
Toothpaste
Toothbrushes

The foodbank are not able to accept fresh or frozen turkeys.

If you would prefer you may also make a small cash donation so the Food Bank may purchase fresh staples such as bread, milk etc.

The deadline for donations is the 12th December and they can be placed in the box outside the Science labs by pupils.

Yours faithfully,
Miss T Coulthard (Head of Science)
