Powys Schools U12 & U13 Boys Rugby
Our U12 & U13 Boys rugby teams travelled to Llanidloes on Thursday 3rd April in glorious sunshine to take part in the Powys Schools Rugby Festivals. Both teams put in a fantastic effort, with lots of our pupils playing competitive rugby for the first time, growing in confidence and improving the more they played throughout the day.
Our U12s, although lacking in experience and rugby know-how from most of the squad, put in spirited early performances against Llanfyllin and eventual winners Crickhowell, before finishing with closely contested matches vs Gwernyfed and then Brecon. The boys grew in confidence the more they played, with excellent teamwork helping to create some cracking tries finished by Harry, Ioan and debutants Jack, Tommy and Khalil.
Our U13s made lots of progress from their previous outings this year, putting in some really encouraging performances with wins against Crickhowell and John Beddoes, a frustrating loss snatched from the jaws of victory vs Caereinion and another two closely contested losses vs Llanidloes and Gwernyfed. Will, Riley and Jacob led the way finishing some excellent team tries, helped out with a hatful of tries from debutant speedsters Charlie and James.
A great effort from all with lots of positives to build on and a big thank you to Dai Higgs and the RGC South team for organising a great day of rugby!
