James Corfield Memorial Cricket Match 2024

We had a really enjoyable evening on Tuesday 2nd July for our Boys Cricket team in the annual James Corfield Memorial Cricket Match vs Welshpool High School held at Montgomery Cricket Club.

Welshpool finished on 129 from their 16 overs, Steve Ashley the leading wicket taker for Newtown. Newtown batted well, with good opening scores from Captain Fyfe Davies on 23 and George Farrington 16, however they couldn't quite match the run rate set by Welshpool, before finishing their 16 overs on 89. A great effort and first experience of hard-ball cricket for 5 of our pupils. Well done all involved, thank you to Montgomery Cricket Club and congratulations to Welshpool on their win!
