Agored Learning in the Outdoors

Introduction:

The aim of the Agored Learning in the Outdoors is to enhance, the social, physical, creative, cultural and personal development of young people holistically through experiential learning in the outdoors. The aspiration is for an active, healthy and inclusive Wales, where learning in the outdoors provides a common platform for participation, fun, achievement and employment increasing the understanding of the environment, the Welsh language and cultural heritage and future of Wales.  This is a vocational course with no exam.  Assessment is carried out throughout the duration of the course.

GCSE (Year 10 and Year 11)

o   Personal Safety Learning in the Outdoors

o   Sustainable Use of Natural Resources

o   Outdoor Activities for Tourism in Wales

o   Physical Geography & Climate of Wales

o   Extractable Natural Resources in Wales

o   Flora and Fauna of Wales

o   The Health Benefits of Being Outdoors

o   Team Working

o   Participating in a Water Based Activity

 

Wales, Europe and the World,

Introduction:

As part of the Agored course, Wales, Europe and the World, learners will benefit from developing and nurturing their Welsh identity or understand how Wales works within their local and national community and its relationships within the UK, Europe and the rest of the World. This is a vocational course so there is no exam.  Assessment is carried out throughout the duration of the course.

GCSE (Year 10 and Year 11)

o   Flora and Fauna of Wales

o   Physical Geography & Climate of Wales

o   Role of an Individual – Robert Owen

o   Role of an Organisation – Rebecca Riots

o   Tourism in Wales

o   Traditions and Customs of Wales

 

Work Related Education 

Introduction:

The Agored Work Related Education course allows the learner to benefit from developing their skills and understanding for identifying their career pathway and equipping them to manage their working life in a changing future. This is a vocational course so there is no exam.  Assessment is carried out throughout the duration of the course.
